The Wave in Bogense

Discover the marble sculpture The Wave in Bogense – a work of art inspired by the sea and created by sculptor Lisbeth Krag.

On Strandvej, at the intersection with Vestergade in Bogense, stands the marble sculpture The Wave. The sculpture represents a stylised wave and is made of light marble – a clear reference to the sea and the coastal landscape of North Funen.

The sculpture was created by sculptor Lisbeth Krag and was installed in April 2025. It was donated by the Foundation "Bogense Bys Forskønnelse".

Lisbeth Krag graduated from the Funen Art Academy and has since worked with Italian marble. Her work is inspired by the sea and shoreline, and she translates natural forms and light into soft, tactile marble sculptures. You can read more about the artist here.

Marble is not often used in public art on North Funen, where bronze and granite are more common. The light stone stands out but still blends well with the surroundings, and it leads the mind to the sea, the waves and the North Funen coastline.
