Hasmark Beach: Sand, Safety, and Stunning Views

Hasmark Beach is long, child-friendly, and features fine sand facing the Kattegat Sea. The beach has been awarded the Blue Flag every year since 2012, signifying excellent environmental quality, service, and safety.

It's a fantastic spot for a dip, a breezy walk, or simply a day with sand between your toes.

Blue Flag and Water Quality

Hasmark is a Blue Flag beach, and the bathing water is classified as Excellent with three stars. This gives you peace of mind when you jump in, ensuring a great day by the coast.

Year-Round Sea Swimming Point (Vinterbadepunkt)

You can go winter bathing right off the Hasmark Strandoase. The changing facilities and toilet are open all year, so you can put on dry clothes after your dip. Note: The outdoor shower near the changing room is not frost-proof, so the water is turned off around week 42.

The beach is approved as a Sea Swimming Point, focusing on clean bathing water, safety, and easy access to the water.

Facilities Near the Beach

The Hasmark Strandoase (Beach Oasis) gathers most amenities in one spot, including a playground, picnic tables and benches, a shelter, a grill area, showers, and great common rooms. From here, it’s just a few steps to the beach, making the area a natural gathering point.

You can borrow a beach wheelchair through Nordfyns Municipality; the key is available at the reception desk at First Camp Hasmark Strand.

Access and Parking at Hasmark Strand Beach

Hasmark Strand is easily accessible, no matter how you choose to travel. Here are the best ways to reach the popular beach:

• By car and parking: You can drive directly to the beach via Strandvejen. You will find a large parking lot near Hasmark Strandoase at Strandvejen/Østre Strandvej. There is also parking close to Enebærodde at Halshusene/Tygesvej.
• By bike: There is an 8 km bike path along Strandvejen between Otterup and Hasmark Strand. You can also cycle along the Odense Fjord or via the small backroads from, for example, Bogense.
• Bus and transport: There is no direct bus to Hasmark Strand. You can take route 140 from Odense to Otterup and continue from there by bike, on foot, or by using Flextrafik/taxi. See details on Rejseplanen.
• Facilities and disabled access: At the "Strandoase," you will find toilets, changing rooms, and showers. There is a ramp over the dike and down onto the beach, allowing wheelchair users and those with walking difficulties to get close to the water. Please be aware that the final stretch to the water's edge is across sand, so a helping hand may be necessary.

Coastal Security

The coast at Hasmark is protected by a dike because the area has previously been affected by floods and storm surges. The dikes make the beach area more resilient and preserve the open coastal landscape everyone comes to enjoy.

Good Advice for Your Visit

• Check the wind and weather, and follow the signs on the beach.
• Only use the lifesaving equipment in an emergency.
• Leave the area tidy when you leave.
• In winter, it’s a good idea to have a hat, towel, and warm drink ready.
• Never enter the water alone.

Hasmark has been a popular beach for more than 100 years

The small village of Hasmark has given its name to the whole area on the North Funen coast, right next to Enebærodde.

Hasmark used to be a manor farm which, together with the farm Knyle, became part of the large estate Hofmansgave, which also owns Enebærodde. Many of the roads are named after the landowner family – and the shortest one, Tygesvej, is of course named after a dwarf in the family…

Back in the day there was farming, fishing and peat cutting in the marsh. In 1916 Miss Johanne Karoline Nielsen opened the seaside hotel Hotel Kattegat, and the area became both stylish and very popular with the people of Odense. Holiday cottages were built, and over time the place turned into the popular holiday area with a campsite and summer houses that you see today. At the same time, it’s still a beautiful natural area with a long beach, the large Hasmark bog and idyllic fields.
