In Morten Korch’s footsteps to Denmark’s cosiest market town Bogense - for groups

Follow in Morten Korch’s footsteps to Denmark’s cosiest market town Bogense on a guided bus tour for groups with Funen countryside charm, coastal nature, bison and storytelling along the way.

The tour starts at Båring Handelshus, a charming country shop where you can browse plaster figures, ceramics, stoneware, wooden items, baskets, horn products, wool and garden decorations. This is where you meet your guide who welcomes you to a day in true Morten Korch style.

Morten Korch idyll

From Båring Handelshus you drive past Museum Morten Korch and Kærsgaard Transportmuseum while your guide tells you about the famous author and his connection to North Funen with castles, manor houses and idyllic countryside. You follow the winding Funen backroads through the cosy village of Tværskov with its characteristic Morten Korch style houses.

Morten Korch was a Danish author who wrote popular twentieth century novels about life in the countryside. When we talk about Morten Korch idyll, we mean the cosy, romantic image of rural Denmark with small villages, farms and winding country roads.

Bison and beautiful landscapes

On the way you pass Ditlevsdal Bison Farm, the largest bison farm in Europe, where the impressive animals graze on the North Funen prairie.

The tour continues through Gyldensteenskoven to Gyldensteen Strand, the largest nature restoration project on Funen, while your guide explains how the area has changed before, during and after the big transformation. Here you experience a unique coastal landscape with many bird species and other wildlife, and the view towards the island of Æbelø completes the nature experience.

The market town of Bogense

After this you follow the coast to Bogense, Denmark’s cosiest market town. On a short tour of the harbour and historic town centre you hear stories about the town before you round off the day with lunch or dinner at one of the local restaurants or cafés.
