Verner Panton: Life and Work - A Photo Exhibition at Bogense Harbour
Experience a colourful, sensory outdoor exhibition at Bogense Harbour, where 22 panels tell the story of Verner Panton - one of the 20th century’s most visionary designers.
From Nordfyn came ideas that later brought colour to the world of design and changed how we think about space, light, colours, and materials. The exhibition invites you up close to Panton’s life, works, and ideas - right in the landscape where his story began.
Verner Panton - from Nordfyn to the world stage
The exhibition follows Verner Panton’s journey from his childhood on Nordfyn, through resistance work during the occupation, to international breakthroughs in furniture, lighting, and total design.
Here you meet both the person and the idea-maker behind the iconic designs, and gain insight into how Panton’s Nordfyn roots, courage, and curiosity became the driving force behind an uncompromising and colourful design language.
The panels show both the early experiments and the major works, where Panton insisted that our surroundings affect us physically and mentally - and that design should be felt, not just seen.
Design you can feel
For Verner Panton, design was never decoration. It was experience, movement, and sensation.
With strong colours, new materials, and organic shapes, he created spaces that challenged habits and stirred emotions. The exhibition offers a glimpse into Panton’s total-design universe—from furniture and lamps to spatial installations, where everything connects.
As Panton himself said: “You sit better on a colour you like.”
