The Reading Cabin at Bogense Harbour

The Reading Cabin offers books, views and peace and quiet in the beautiful nature by Bogense Harbour.

Take a break from everyday life and immerse yourself in the world of books in beautiful surroundings at the Reading Cabin by Bogense Harbour. The cabin is located right by the water next to the sea bath (Søbadet), a special place where nature and the joy of reading come together.

Here, you can enjoy the peace and the view of the Kattegat and the island of Æbelø through large panoramic windows, or climb the stairs to the rooftop and find a spot with views in every direction.

A special place for reading

The Reading Cabin was created to spark a love of reading, especially to give children the chance to enjoy books outside the classroom. You’ll find books in the cabin that you’re free to read, and you’re also welcome to bring your own.

It’s a place that invites calm, focus and cosy reading moments in surroundings where light, air and nature make the experience even better.

Part of SPROGENSE

The Reading Cabin is a permanent part of the SPROGENSE language festival, which every May transforms Bogense into a vibrant world of language with activities and experiences for both children and adults.

However, the Reading Cabin is open all year and can be enjoyed by anyone looking for a different and sensory reading experience.

Funded by Foundations

The Reading Cabin was developed in collaboration with architect Henning Gammelgaard and Nordfyn Libraries, and built by JK Byg og Montage in Bogense.

The project was made possible with support from the Villum Foundation and is part of a larger festival initiative supported by LAG MANK.

The Mobile Reading Cabin

In addition to the permanent Reading Cabin at the harbour, there is also a mobile version used at festivals and events across North Funen. It brings the joy of reading to places where children and families gather.

The Language Festival SPROGENSE

SPROGENSE is an annual festival that celebrates language with activities, music, conversations and talks. The festival takes place every year in Bogense on the first weekend of May and offers plenty of free experiences for both children and adults.
