The Green Clover Leaf Trail in Søndersø is a short route of 2.8 km.
The route starts and ends by the pylon at Søndersø Bypark, Toftekær 7.
The route is marked with green Clover Leaf Trail signs.
The route is flat and easy to walk, with a maximum gradient of 3.2%.
Parking is available on Carlsvej opposite Edelkær and opposite Tofteparken.
There are bus routes between Søndersø and Odense and between Bogense and Søndersø. You can find your journey on rejseplanen.dk.
If you want to get to Søndersø from somewhere else in North Funen or from a neighbouring municipality, it is possible to book a Flextrafik trip.

Along the route

The Green Clover Leaf Trail in Søndersø takes you through the town’s history in a short amount of time.

At the roundabout between Odensevej, Toftekær and Mejerivej, there is a beautiful building at Mejerivej 2. This is the old cooperative dairy from 1887, which was rebuilt several times. The dairy closed in 1967. Odensevej is one of the town’s oldest roads and runs through the old shopping area. This was once the main road to Odense, and there was plenty of traffic. Today, there are benches and green spaces where you can sit and relax.

The church and the burial mound

There used to be a large roadside inn where REMA 1000 is now located. The Clover Leaf Trail along Højagervej takes you past the town’s beautiful church, which is well worth a visit. The church was built in the 13th century and has some very colourful and fascinating frescoes.

A little further along Højagervej, you pass a large ancient burial mound. It is known as Kirkehøj or Søndersøhøj, and it is just one of many signs that people have lived in this fertile place for a very long time.

Hovedvejen

On the path past the upper secondary school, you pass 12 bronze heads of famous writers, scientists and philosophers. That is why the path is also called Hovedvejen. Can you recognise them all?

The route also follows paths along green areas in the town and past Dallundvej, where you pass the former farm Toftegård.

If you want to bring tasty sandwiches, snacks and drinks for the trip, there are several grocery shops in Søndersø close to Byparken and by the roundabout at Odensevej.
