Winter Break at the Iron Age Village

In ancient times, winter was the time of year when making and repairing tools, clothes and household utensils was high on the list of daily chores.

Both the Iron Age people and the Vikings gathered around the warm fire in winter, working on crafts and telling myths and stories. The matriarch would conjure up the last of the leftovers from the storeroom into warm dishes to keep everyone full in the winter cold.

This week you can visit the Iron Age people, see and taste some of the winter dishes of the past, as well as experience and try different crafts and pursuits.
