Visit to The Woodturner & the Workshop Sweeper – for groups

Visit The Woodturner & the Workshop Sweeper in the old village shop in Ejlby. In the cosy woodturning workshop, you’ll hear the story behind the craft and see how wood and leftover furniture parts are turned into new pieces.

Visit The Woodturner & the Workshop Sweeper – a warm story about seeing the gold right where you are

In the small village of Ejlby, you’ll find an old village shop and a former community hall. This is home to The Woodturner & the Workshop Sweeper - most people simply call them Lone and Anders.

As soon as you step inside, you’re met by a real, welcoming atmosphere. It feels like being invited in by good friends. The place smells of wood, the coffee is hot - and you can almost hear the stories in the walls.

A story that stays with you

We begin in the workshop, where Lone shares how a car accident turned life upside down - and how working with wood became the start of a whole new chapter, and what is now The Woodturner & the Workshop Sweeper.

  • It’s a story about getting back up when life knocks you over.
  • About seeing value where others don’t — whether it’s old chair legs or people on the edge of the job market.
  • About giving people and materials a second life.
  • And about making something beautiful from what was otherwise headed for the firewood pile.

All told with warmth, a bit of quirkiness, and a crooked little smile.

You’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at where everything happens:

  • Old chair legs, table tops and furniture leftovers become bowls, figures and useful everyday pieces
  • Wooden rings are glued, sanded and turned — and the story of the material unfolds along the way
  • We share thoughts on sustainability, hope, mistakes, courage and the joy of making things by hand — and how we can care for each other and our surroundings
  • It’s hands-on craftsmanship up close — with room for questions, laughs and small stories.

Afterwards, there’s coffee and tea, and time to browse the shop next door in the old village shop. Here you’ll find Lone’s own hand-turned pieces and selected Danish crafts from makers Lone and Anders work with.
