The long reef in Faaborg Fjord is a unique fishing spot with leopard bottom and deep water. Perfect for sea trout fishing in northwest to northeast winds.
You can wade and fish all the way along this distinctive reef, which stretches over a kilometer into Faaborg Fjord. At high tide, sea trout often stand on top of the reef with just a little water over their backs. At low tide, they move slightly out to the edges. Fish thoroughly in a fan pattern as you slowly work your way outward. Locals say the left side is best, but plenty of sea trout have struck on the right side too! Be careful wading far out on the reef in fog – it can make finding your way back difficult. Darkness is less of an issue, but make sure to memorize which lights on the “mainland” to navigate by on your return. Best wind direction: northwest to northeast.
