Egense Dyb Havørred Hotspot nr. 3

Egense Dyb near Otterup Harbor is a winter hotspot for sea trout. Deep water and soft seabed make it ideal for patient anglers.

Egense Dyb is a striking channel of deep water that cuts inland toward the small harbor of Otterup. In winter – as long as the water isn’t frozen – this spot is always worth a visit. Sea trout overwinter in the deep channel and can be found here throughout the season.

In cold water, sea trout tend to feed in short, unpredictable bursts. Patience pays off, as timing is everything at this location. Anglers can wade and fish on both sides of the harbor. While the seabed may seem uninviting – soft, gray mud – don’t let that fool you. When the water is cold, this is exactly the kind of bottom sea trout love to hunt over.
