Bus Trip to Hofmansgave
Hofmansgave is a historic manor once home to the Hofman-Bang family. Today, the estate is run by a foundation as a modern farm with diverse crops and high-tech automated stables.
Historic Park
The Hofman-Bang family lived at this manor for several generations. As scientists, botanists, and artists, they had a deep passion for the land and the surrounding park. The manor is beautifully situated with views of Odense Fjord and the Kattegat – close to Funen’s only heathland, Enebærodde. Fun fact: The novel Dværgenes Dans (The Dwarves' Dance) by Anne Marie Løn was inspired by the Hofman-Bang family. Today, Hofmansgave is a foundation. While the main building is usually only seen from the outside, the park is open year-round and features many rare trees and plants. Inside the park, you’ll find Denmark’s Potato Museum (open Easter to October), where you can learn all about the history of the potato. There is also a small sketch museum showcasing fantastic sketches and sculptures by the sisters Ellen and Ausa Hofman-Bang, who were the last residents of the estate.
A Modern Agro-Industrial Business
Today, the Hofmansgave estate is a large, modern agricultural business growing wheat, barley, corn, spinach seeds, grass seeds, and Christmas trees. They also produce milk from a large dairy herd, using modern automated stables and milking robots. Guided tours of the farm can be arranged by appointment (weekdays only).
