Bus Trip to Funen’s Most Beautiful Gardens – 3-Day Tour
Enjoy a delightful 3-day getaway exploring the very best gardens Funen has to offer, including Egeskov, Sanderumgaard, Grønløkke Nursery, and Kongsdal Open Garden. After a day of exploration, relax and enjoy lovely meals with 2 nights at Fjelsted Skov Hotel & Conference, centrally located in the scenic heart of Funen.
Day 1:
Visit the Romantic Garden at Sanderumgaard. Your trip starts with a guided tour of the Manor Stable, where one of the owners will share the history of the estate and the vision behind the garden. Founded nearly 200 years ago by Johan Bülow, Lord Chamberlain to King Frederik VI, the garden is a historical gem.
You’ll hear about the massive restoration project undertaken by Susanne and Erik Vind and the fascinating historical archives used to bring this 15-hectare manor garden back to life. The English-style garden blends seamlessly with the surrounding nature. The visit concludes in the rose and orchard garden, where coffee and cake can be served by arrangement.
Day 2:
Welcome to the "living castle." Egeskov is not just a museum; it’s the home of the Count and Countess Ahlefeldt. Step inside 460 years of history and explore one of the 12 most spectacular gardens in the world. Renowned landscape architects have shaped the grounds since 1554. In 1962, Countess Nonni Ahlefeldt-Laurvig-Bille opened the impressive gardens to the public, featuring the stunning Renaissance garden and the Herb Garden from 1973.
In the evening, enjoy a festive dinner at Fjelsted Skov Hotel. We can also arrange talks, live music, or port wine tastings to suit your group’s needs.
Day 3:
Visit Scandinavia's largest rose producer, Grønløkke Nursery, for an exciting tour of the rose fields. They produce over 2 million roses annually across 1,000 varieties! Next, head to Kongsdal Open Garden, one of Denmark’s most stunning private gardens. Spanning 20,000 m², this oasis is filled with rhododendrons, perennials, and a lake with fountains.
There are plenty of spots to sit and enjoy the view, or you can gather in the charming "henhouse" for coffee, cake, or traditional Danish open-faced sandwiches (smørrebrød).
