Bjørnø Havørred Hotspot nr. 79

Bjørnø is a car-free island with excellent sea trout fishing along the south side. Perfect for a day trip from Faaborg.

Out in the sea off Faaborg lies another gem for sea trout anglers – but not if the wind is from the southwest. The prime stretch is the entire 2.5-kilometer-long south side of the island, and the water quickly turns murky when westerly winds push waves against the clay cliffs. In northerly or easterly winds, head down to Faaborg Harbor and hop on the small passenger boat to Bjørnø. The island is car-free, but distances are short. When you arrive, walk through the small village and follow the path to the south side. Here you’ll be right in the middle of the island’s excellent sea trout stretch and just need to choose whether to fish east or west. Best wind direction: north to east.
